Open Mic Hatteras Village

Mother nature finally cooperated enough to allow us the execution of our first open mic of season 3!
Albeit, slightly chilly, there was still a good crowd milling around the courtyard and the deli. This year open mic coincided with Cinco de Mayo and we sold clear out of chicken enchiladas, coronas, and Dos Equis. All in all, an enjoyable and successful evening. I am thankful for all that came out and supported us especially the musicians who so courageously share their talents with us and our guests. It is truly a treat!

Weather permitting, we will be giving up the stage every Thursday from 7pm-11pm. Kaias Kitchen is in the Stowe on Twelve Shopping Center in Hatteras Village. You can call us for more details at 252-986-2024. Come check us out and more importantly come support local, live music!

Mother's Day Brunch

Weather looks great for Saturday, Mother's Day weekend. 73 & sunny. Sunday, not so great...scattered thunderstorms possible 50%. I suppose I will try an remain a glass half full kind of gal and hope for the best. Kaia's Kitchen is planning our normal Sunday brunch, but this Sunday we're running a special promo: bring your mom to brunch and her meal is 50% off. Hatteras Deli Brings Live Music Outside

Kaia's Kitchen is hosting live music in the courtyard at Stowe on Twelve in Hatteras
Village two nights for the 2010 season. Open mic has already begun and will continue every Thursday 7 pm-11 pm. Since the start of open mic last summer crowds have grown and musical talent is in greater abundance as time goes by. This year, Acoustic Mondays are being added to the schedule. The musical stylings of Sean Bendula and friends will proudly be showcased at Kaia's Kitchen every Monday from 7- 10 pm. Food, drinks, and ice cream served throughout the evening. And course, all festivities are weather permitting. If you haven't made it to Kaia's for a little salt air, good music, cold drinks, and fun times, you haven't experienced all Hatteras to offer! Woohoo! Open Mic night is back again every Thursday 7pm - 11pm . I had to leave early, but there was a pretty good turn out....both musicians and listeners. Sunday brunch is what's special for Easter this Sunday, April 4th, 2010. Come join us from the hours of 10am-2pm in the courtyard of Stowe on Twelve Shops. We will be serving up some of our famous Strawberry & Cream Cheese Baked French Toast or Mike's scrumptious Shrimp & Grits and the best Eggs Benedict in all the villages. Day at the Docks- Hatteras Village

I just got home from the annual Day at the Docks in Hatteras Village. We participated in the chowder cook-off for the second year in a row. The Breakwater took first place with Island Perks coming in second, but I'd like to think that we gave'em a run for their money. Nonetheless, it was fun, and I think it's good publicity to be a part of the celebration. It's a good chance to see a lot of friends who have gotten lost in the crowds of tourists and hiding at their respective workplaces all summer long. It is the last official day of summer. We were blessed with beautiful weather for the festivities, and there seemed to be a good turnout. I am thankful to all of the people who worked so hard to put it together for the sake of the Watermen's Association and the Hatteras Island Cancer Foundation. I wish I was up to the dance tonight, but it's amazing how ladling hundreds of chowder tastings will wear you out!

Fourth of July- Hatteras Village

As I wind down from the kind of day I remember having every day throughout the season in previous years once Memorial Day hit, I wonder if the peak season may have finally set it in. At least I hope so. The Fourth is right around the corner, and we're hoping for the best. With fireworks being held in Hatteras Village, we will be running a dollar hot dog special all day Saturday in conjunction with drink specials for a quick bite before the show. You can also get your pasta salads, potato salad, cole slaw, and deli meats & cheeses by the pound for your Fourth of July beach bbqs on the beach or at the rental house. Every Thursday evening at Stowe on Twelve shopping center at the north end of Hatteras village, tourists and locals alike have converged for a weekly open mic at Kaia's Kitchen & Market. If you are in the area and are looking for something to do, it is definitely worth checking out. We have been blessed with some very talented musicians playing a wide variety of instruments and styles. All ages are welcome so come out with your families....serving food and drinks from 7pm to 11pm every Thursday. We will see you there!
